M.S. Computer Science Numerical methods Statistical explanation

Biography

Daniel Okafor is the editor for statistics and computing at Calculator Archive. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science with a focus on numerical methods, and he writes the guides behind our math and computer-science tools: descriptive statistics, variance, and the IEEE-754 floating-point behavior that explains why 0.1 + 0.2 does not equal 0.3 in a computer.

His standard for a guide is that the reader can reproduce every number by hand. Formulas are stated in full, worked examples are carried through step by step, and where an external standard governs the result — NIST rounding guidelines, the IEEE-754 specification — the guide links to it instead of paraphrasing it.
